(First of all, wow! I can’t believe it is day 21 of my #366Days challenge. Three whole weeks gone! Time really does fly. Now, on to our regularly scheduled post…)
Larry took me to Ireland in May of 2014 as part of our celebration of our 20th wedding anniversary. While we were there, our rental car was a really awesome Volkswagen Beetle. It was so cool that we were asked about it when we visited the Kennedy Homestead — by President Kennedy’s cousin! We loved the car, and I told Larry that my next car was going to be a Beetle. Sure enough, this fall we traded my high-mileage Toyota Camry for a bright red Beetle. It’s a great car.
Fast-forward to this Christmas morning. We are at my parents’ house celebrating Christmas, and there nestled among the really awesome presents I received is a box from my sister. As a grown-up, a lot of the presents that I get I’ve already known about in some way. They were on my wish list, or I was there when they were purchased, or maybe I even ordered them myself. But this one felt different. I saved it for next to last — right before opening my new guitar! And I wasn’t disappointed.
Inside was a hand-crocheted version of my well-loved Beetle. This gift must have taken her HOURS and HOURS and no small amount of fretting (guitar pun intended), and I absolutely love it. I just want to say for the record that I have the coolest sister around.
