“Have you ever in your life commanded the morning, And caused the dawn to know its place?” Job 38:12
This year, for me, spring the time change coincided with the completion of my life plan — putting to paper the priorities and naming my life accounts, as the authors of Living Forward call them. Basically, this means taking each area of my life and figuring out my purpose there and then writing specific plans to fulfill that purpose. My plan gives some legs to the notion that I want to honor God with each area my life, attempting to answer the question “Great! But how?”
Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” That’s sort of the purpose of the life plan in a nutshell — numbering — and ordering — our days.
As part of my plan , I’m trying to spend more time focusing on the greatness of God. Yesterday, I drove to work amid a glorious post-time change sunrise, and the verse listed above from Job popped into my head. My prayer is that God will indeed cause Dawn to know her place, that He will remind me of who I am, and that I will remember I serve the Great I Am.
