Larry and I just went out on the deck to take a look at the sky. Our neighbors to the west have been taking a bit of a pounding this evening, but so far we’ve only had a sprinkle or two and an amazingly dramatic sunset.
This photo doesn’t do the sky justice, of course. But the power and majesty on display were balanced beautifully by the colorful glow of clearer skies to come.
Life is like that, it seems. Tonight my heart is heavy as some of my dear friends are struggling with dark clouds and storms life is throwing their way. News of friends dealing with illness, injury, and even the loss of loved ones has dominated the weekend, filling my heart with storm clouds.
My words feel inadequate today, so I will offer the Word of God: Philippians 4:6-7 says “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Praying for peace tonight.
For those suffering.
For those hurting.
For those mourning.
For all of us.
