I’m thoroughly enjoying my Memorial Day weekend. Rest, activity, food and fun have been part of the weekend so far, but tomorrow brings the solemn reminder that there’s more to this weekend than just grilling the perfect hot dog.
Memorial Day is a time to pause and remember those who gave, as President Lincoln described it, “the last full measure of devotion.”
These brave men and women gave their lives that we might be free. I am so grateful for their sacrifice. I’m grateful, too, for the sacrifice of those who have served and who serve today defending our nation.
Larry and I are about to settle in and watch the National Memorial Day Concert, and I just want to say “We remember. We are grateful.”
May God bless our service members and their families, and may God bless America.
