It seems we don’t hear a lot about wisdom from our culture or social media these days. Writers put together books on getting rich; there’s always the latest craze over getting thin. We try to win friends and influence people and even increase our test scores.
But wisdom seems forgotten, abandoned along the way.
I’m glad we have the book of Proverbs, the father urgently teaching the importance of wisdom. In Proverbs 4:18, I read “The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter until the full light of day” or, in The Message translation, “The ways of right-loving people glow with light; the longer they live, the brighter they shine.”
How do we get this righteous glow? Through the pursuit of Wisdom — with a capital w; through seeking first after God and His righteousness. By guarding our hearts and minds. And by trusting that He will build wisdom in us as we are faithful in seeking Him.
