Ah, Valentine’s Day! The day when the whole world seems to feel flooded with roses and chocolates and oooey gooey sentiment.
The problem is it’s a day that can break hearts as fast as it celebrates them. Not everyone is in a perfect relationship — or any relationship, for that matter. And the world can feel pretty awful, seeming to point its finger at us and laugh.
But I want to remind you — or maybe tell you for the first time — that there is One who loves you to the depth of His soul. He sees you and He loves you. And you can trust Him completely.
This reminder came to me this morning from the book of Exodus, of all places. I was reading about God sending Moses to deliver Israel from slavery. And I ran across Exodus 4:31: …And when they heard that the Lord was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshipped.
Did you catch that? God saw them and cared about them.
Valentine’s can make us feel unseen, forgotten, and forsaken, but remember that that’s the enemy attacking. He wants us miserable. God wants to love us and to give us peace and joy and life.
So today, when you see those cheesy hearts or hear calls of “Happy Valentine’s Day,” remember that Jesus loves you, and He promises to never leave you.
Have a great day and a Happy Valentine’s Day!
