When I was in college, I had to take a course in strength training and conditioning. I was the weakest one in the bunch. Thankfully we were graded on the improvement in weight lifting rather than the amount we could move.
But I was always proud of the fact that I was way more flexible than the muscle-bound football player who probably could’ve bench pressed a couple of us.
Apparently flexibility is something that’s easy to lose. I mentioned the other day that my friend Dana and I committed to tackling tasks we tend to procrastinate on. For her, it was writing and for me exercise. I have been doing yoga workouts and have discovered quite a bit of tightness and inflexibility.
Inflexibility. Rigidity. Tightness. Uptightness. Not really things I want to be known for.
I’m trying to cultivate better things: flexibility, strength, wholeness, well-being. The idea for me isn’t simply about weight loss (although I need that) but it’s about wellness.
Who’s with me?
Me! If I don’t “workout” I feel terrible! I use my jog tim to prayer and listen to a message or sing along to praise music, or sometimes just LISTEN to God. Over the years I have become a “runner” because I enjoy my God time so much! Keep with it- you’ll feel great!
