The last few days I’ve had a really hard time figuring out what to wear. It’s down-right chilly in the morning and hot in the afternoons. I want to wear my scarves and fall clothes, but the heat just won’t allow it.
This morning I caught myself mentally trying on this outfit and that one, looking for an option that will beat the heat and be at least fairly cute at the same time.
And then I realized it’s easy to spend way too much time worrying about that kind of thing — what we will wear or what we will eat. Hmmm, seems like Somebody had something to say about that very thing:
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Matthew 6:25-26
The Bible does talk a good bit about how we should clothe ourselves spiritually. We should be more concerned with putting on humility, dignity, honor, the imperishable, and the full armor of God.
So, as I get ready this morning, I’m praying God will help me remember to wear the things that truly matter.
